First time I saw this, I can't believe the fiction this Pat has written. I'm confused on how how a "highly modified" Dodge was in the same class with this smokeless wonder. From the sounds of things, he was modded pretty well also.

He even picked on poor old Powersnorter, now that just ain't right!:(

Maybe somebody out there close could inform them that Both Thunder in Muncie and Scheids have street classes.

Gee,and they don't think a 450h. p. Cummins has more than 700 ft. lbs. Where have they been? They're just trying to sell parts, and give the Phord guys a glimmer of hope;) ... Doug

Yep, but I didn't ask for the publicity... of course Banks is going to use things like this to promote their products.

Right, Jim, send me those parts your taking off for the banks stuff. :D

Actually are those NOT the pics the guy on d-c took? Didn't know your could use other people's pics on your website.

BTY, Gene, what were you doing at that Banks site? Did you stop dancing with Mitchell? :-laf

Pat your facts are a little off and thus you are making yourself and Banks look, well awesome---here's the official results of the sled pull results and you can see that Brandon beat another Ford and the 3rd place truck was of unknown manufacturer--these results are from the Promotors of the Tulare function:

he didn't beat a souped up Dodge sponsored by Diesel Dynamics--I'm not sure you know how sled pulls work, but they adjust the weight of the sled based on the weight of the truck pulling and for the HP involved-the weight can come up faster and they may add weight, so the measurements can be misleading, that's why they have different classes---his class was a no hang em extra weights, only the super souped up rigs did---his truck may run good, but I don't think it wouldn't hold a candle to a Dodge setup with the same amount of money invested--I very much doubt you will recant your statements in a future write up--cuz that wouldn't look good for you or Banks--but hopefully you will--Banks' set ups are good for what they do and serve a lot of guys for their purpose, but you make it sound like buy our stuff and you'll knock the snot out of everything on the road--this will lead to many dissatisfied customers--so again do yourself and Banks a favor and set the record a litttle straighter----chris

Mojo---this is not a slap to you or your truck--well maybe just a little:D--it's more to get these vendors to tell the truth and the whole truth-not just tidbits to make their stuff look like it's the answer--chris

FYI, that gentleman was not sponsored. He payed for his gauges and injectors. The truck dynoed 403 when it left here, not the 450+ they are claiming.

CSutton- I'm glad its not a slap on my truck since I was just there to have fun, I understand your point though. Although I did compete against and beat that blue Dodge (403hp) and others I know I wouldn't hold a candle to the extreme guys, the trucks that were belching smoke and hanging weights. For my purposes (daily driving and towing) the Banks kit was the way to go and I'd use their products again under the same circumstances. However, right now I'm on the fence and considering a new Dodge, in which case I might go a whole different route to find power.

Well, come on aboard the Dodge "Power" wagon! We can help you find some BIG power for the new truck, without all the BS.

Later, Rob

BTW... ... ... Gene, What WERE you doing on the banks site? Somethimes I think your sole point of exsistance is to stir. LOL

What???? I can't believe BAnks would not be telling the truth!!!!

OMG!!!!!

Disclaimer: not affliated with Bank$ and won't buy into their BS.

Hey where are the Banks guys that were on the forum to announce (ahh hum sell their product) the Sidewinder??

Maybe they will correct the article posted on their website, but I doubt it.

I like the Mopar Muscle article with Jetpilot dynoing 763hp and right under it there is the BANKS truck with a whopping 287hp!!:-laf :-laf

Hey, yea no offense to mojo, I know he didn't write the article! A win is a win, smoke or no!

What bothered me, is the captions under the pics, trying to insinuate that Banks power just crushed those nasty old dirty smokers- and they even had tractor weights and pulling tires, oh my!

Why was I on Banks site? I have a lot of respect for their stuff, I like to see what they are up to.

What I don't like, is their PR.

hmmm

Well, marketing is marketing. It's a shame most sheeple don't know to take this stuff with a grain of salt.

One irrefutable fact of life: NOTHING is ever as good or as bad as it seems.

Brandon, good job on your pull. That's a victory that no one can take anything away from you on.

If you look closely at the pics in the "article", it seems the ONLY real smoke "belcher" is the old Ford. All the rest of the trucks, Ford and Dodge, seemed to be fairly clean. The ATS trucks didn't seem to be "belching" smoke to me.

Furthermore Banks is taking advantage of people who don't know better by flashing around the 325 HP/700+ lb-ft numbers. A CTD can make that and then some with just DD3s and an EZ- no fueling box! It won't "belch" smoke either. Add a (drag?) Comp and it's ALL over.

I am continually amazed by the Cummins in three areas:

1) how well it tolerates abuse

2) how EASY it is to crank up the wick

3) how CHEAP it is to make decent numbers.

Think of this: I can make my truck have 700-800 lb ft with just DD3 and EZ, and the total cost is less than $1000!!!

When I build the big block for my '69 Coronet, it's going to cost about $5K just to make 500-600-lb ft!

Could it be that the Cummins is the best VALUE (bang for the buck) in all of hot-rodding? Does hypertech make a 120 Hp "chip" for the Mustang or Camaro? I think not. To get the 100HP+ that an edge comp or DD3's will give you (for <$750) in a gasser muscle car, you are looking at at LEAST $3500. (Paxton/vortech/etc) Nitrous? Maybe when they come up with a 100HP system that never runs out...

Even against other diesels, the CTD seems to be the hot rod of choice. Look at the price of injectors for a DMAX or PSD and you will know what I mean.

Banks is a good man. Banks products are good (but overpriced) products. Personally, I can't fault the company for trying to sell its stuff. Yay, capitalism I say. Marketing to me is about trying to cast your product in the best possible light IN AREAS THAT ARE OPEN TO INTERPRETATION (i. e. a toothpaste that leaves your breath the "freshest"). I have a serious problem, however, when facts are either distorted or intentionally left out to LEAD someone to a false conclusion. As it's been said-- a half truth is a whole lie.

Sory for the sermon. . I am feeling just wonderfully grabasstic.
