Show'and'Shine Rained Out

Waiting patiently to hear about all of those 600HP fire breathing dragons on the left coast did at the truck pulls!

Or was there a lot of porch sitting, JOE DONNELLY?

I hope all you hot Cummins didn't let any PSD's win, did you?

Gene

I know that my dad won his class with a ford. Also Herb from Kustom Truck won his class as well with a ford. I heard that the fords dominated until they seperated the classes further. But some of the big power dodges didn't run. :( My dad said that Chris Sutton didn't show and he would have diffenately been a contender.

Congratulations Bill! No porch sitting for you!

I am dissapointed that Chris didn't make it,(!'m sure he is too) it would have been fun to see how he did against Frank.

Was your Dad doing a little R&D on that Ford auto? I know of a few guys who have been waiting for him to do the Fords!

Maybe Bill was just showing us that the transmission is how to win pulls, not the engine!

I start to get the feeling some of the west coast vendors are all show and no go!

MGM,

It's not "all show and no go"... we just seem to be into different racing over here. The Fords dominated the pulls. Bill K did great in the 2wd class considering he had street tires that looked to be at full pressure. It didn't matter what brand was pulling... the auto guys definitely had the advantage, and two clutches were smoked. Quikkurt pulled great and his Southbend clutch held just fine. I have an SB clutch, but sorry to say, pulling doesn't excite me and that's why I didn't pull.

The dirt drags were the opposite... this is the kind of racing we on the left-coast like, and the Dodge ruled. You could hear the little 6's rev up faster down the track than the big 8's.

The two fastest trucks were Adam(my6eatsv8s) and Brian Roth from BD power.

Dirt Racing???

That's why I didn't go. I heard that they used a stop watch and ran one truck at a time. Is that true. If so how would they know who's fastest.

It was fun for all, we all made do with what we had, I took my radar gun and the top speed I got was 82 mph and 21 mph was the lowest, Aaron from Edge on a pocket rocket, it was toooooooo funny. The slowest and the fastest mph's were owned by the same guy, MY6EATSV8's(I THINK), way to go, dude.

Yea I'm bummed, but with kids and wife getting sick, soccer coaching duties, just learning I've got to drive to Montana and work there was no way I could get away--not sure I could've got that phord, but I'd have tried--hopefully next year--congrats to all who did well and sorry to those who expected me--chris

I had a blast. First time I ran my truck like that. Being originally from Ohio, I really miss that type of racing. Traded up my ez and pe for a comp and went 11. 02 e. t. for the 1/8 mile run That figures to 60mph for the run. I figure a 10% lag time due to tire spinning, so if we ran on concrete everybodies time might have been 1/2 to 1 sec shorter? Not sure, so someone let me know if I am thinking along the correct line. The dirt was the great equalizer. Came in second for the four wheel class. It wasn't really sophisticated, but still fun anyway.

I think you are better off trying to borrow a G-tech or hit the strip, I ran 12. 3 on the dirt at Tulare and 14. 1 at the drag strip.

Food for thought.

alrighty first off, Broth, talk with Christain and Chris, see what I have to say.

Second, ya this track was for fun, period. If you want to talk about power, the mph at this for fun only track will show what happened for pulling. I got beat by a truck with 300-350hp by the owners own addmission and smoking his stock clutch the whole way, never even spun the tires until the sled stopped him, my own run was plegded by tire spin and squal. By anyone that knows pulling would know that that means the track WOULD NOT accept power, so consequently phords won(not my class).

As for next year we will have more rules than Standard cab, and extented cab/crew cab, stock, modified, and open. Sure Franks truck was impressive, but for a truck that was shipped accross country, has a store bought purpose built motor, and a truck totally set up to put all(around 450hp) to the ground, he pulled only 20 feet farther than other trucks that dove there pulling trailers.

By the way If anyone wants to race on pavement I'd meat you half way for a little insentive. :)

Damn you got me going.

also depo asked me to run the pulls next year which i am more than happy to as adam said we will have more rules and probably will be abiding by cm pulling rules for ease... ...

ps I didnt make the rules just made everyone abide by the rules given to me christian won 3/4 lwb class at about 258 foot

Brandon

next year I want tons of trucks so we can have lotsa classes and get everyone some plaques and maybe even some prize money for the winners

My6, it sounds like your a bit bitter about the PA truck stomping you. His truck isn't really all that purpose built. He drives it around here and does drive it to all the pulls. His truck is setup about the same as 90% of the guys who pull around here.

Adam,

If someone breaks at a pull, we don't make fun of them or rub in that they lost , no fun in beating a broken truck. (Psycho what?"

If you overpower the track that EVERYBODY else is pulling on, sorry, YOU GOT BEAT!!!

Pulling is not all hp, it is everything, picking the best line, gear choice, air pressure, tire selection, hitch height, etc.

And BTW, there is no such thing as "only 20 feet" 3 feet is a LONG way at that end of the track!!!!!

I was within 2 feet of catching Frank early this summer, but it did not count. Might as well been a mile.

Maybe you should start an "Iron truck" competion. Pulling, sand drags, pavement racing, slalom, take the best of all to be King.

Adam,

Do I smell a challenge? I'm game if you are.

What should we put on it. Drug's or no drug's doesn't matter to me. Just for fun I will even race you with no drug's vs. you with drug. We should go to the track that way once we are done at least we know what we ran.

Stefan anytime, I'll put up a grand for the winner. Drive 100 miles, right on to the track and race. Shoot we can make it similar to the pulling track and run it on wet pavement to. Sounds like easy money to me. Shoot you havn't even made it into the 12's yet.

Pulling on this track was just like I explained above, and not only did I screw up. I lost. But not only to Frank but to the guy that won my class, a stocker turned up, stock clutch slipping and all. I compair what I did to wet pavement because once you start spinning the tires you really are just waisting your time. Not only did Franks truck run great, but he also wieghed around 8500 compaired to my around 6400(no scale). He also had around 2k hanging 24" off his front bumper copaired to none on mine. He had no rear suspension travel I have 2" of downward movement,he had airbags set up to inflate at some point. Your guys rules are way better than anything close to what we had for this pull. (3/4 ton, 1 ton, open) anyway he did kick everyone elses but by as much as mine, good as a mile.
