Now I know there are alot of post on here about tuners. But I want to list them all and see what ya'll think. What do ya'll think is the best buy for your money and also the best performer. Is it Banks, Bully Dog, Edge, PPE Xcelerator, Diablo Sport, Superchips, Smarty, or the Smarty Jr. The reason I ask I guess is because whatever tuner you get determines what guages you will need to get for in the cab.:rolleyes:

If I were to do it all over again I would use a Smarty product. Depending on how much power you want to make you can choose Jr or Sr versions. If I wanted to make rediculous amounts of power using a bigger turbo or twins I would use TST.

Regardless of the tuner, I would have analog gauges in the a-pillar. If you have a manual trans, one dual Westach will work and you keep the grab handle.

I purchased my Smarty Jr for $450. I have other mods in my sig. It works for me. Just enough power (40,70, and 100hp), clears codes, adjusts tire size, fast download, good support, and Fast Idle if you have a new enough truck. The edge insight or quad commander type guages would be nice if you have the $ to spend. I probably should have went that way but cheaped out. The Jr doesn't smoke hardly at all on my truck. I like it a lot. A smarty SR has more power levels and a lot more programs to support more mods. With the JR I have lower than stock egts and stock boost levels. I don't know much about the others.

Smart is my fav right now but bullydog and edge have always been reliable and worth the money. As far as gauges go, analog looks the best but I love my commander (aside from the way it hooks up) but its a lot of bang for the $$

The SMARTY can't be beat. I run SMARTY Sr on level 5 and its all I need... probably could have saved a little money buying the Jr... but when I get around to beefing up my trans I'll appreciate the Sr.

I have analog guages for pyro and turbo boost... trans temp waiting to be installed.

See my sig. I like the Smarty TST stack.

The only thing I want to do is upgrade the R49 with adjustable timing. Then I'd take the timing out of the TST and let Smarty manage it.

Smarty or Jr, no doubt! I have almost all of them in three ctds since 01. Smarty makes big power and the manufacturer can't find it. It never has taken a dump on me (i've had 2 sr's and a junior on 3 ctds) and their support guys like Bob4x4 are the best there are. If you want to make stupid power they stack with all of the rest. They clear codes, adjust tire size and load really fast. Look at my sig... ... ... I get over 21 miles in setting 1 and 2 with my junior with a lot of stuff hanging off my truck and big tires. Thats hand calc going 60. I still almost always crack 20 on the highway at 70 once agin hand calc not overhead. If you think you have a turbo or big big injectors or both buy the Sr. as you can stack with any of the other guys later. If not Jr. prob alright. The only problem will be your transmission=()

I was able to try out the PPE downloader, predator, bully dog (w/ crazy larry) and the smarty before I bought one (borrowed them from friends). The top end with the bully dog was amazing, but nothing fueled as hard on the bottom end and was as responsive as the smarty. I know the predator/puck stack is pretty awesome, and the PPE was just as comparable with the bully dog. My choice was just the feel and driveability, no dyno comparisons. I wouldnt trade my Smarty for anything. The availability of different programs to support extra mods and the customer support is great. The only downside is not being adjustable on the fly, like the bully dog. No matter what you choose, I dont think you could be unhappy with any of the tuners out there
