Noisy, MPG Drop After New Injectors

I have a 2006 that is basically stock. What I have done to it is in my signature. But for all intensive purposes it is 100% stock. I have been thinking about adding a little HP. I am not looking for a race car. My trans is original and the truck has 95,000 on it. My injectors are original. Am I asking for problems adding horespower to these older componets? Should I leave it alone. Not looking to create a large bill for myself. If you think it is safe for a tunner please make a suggestion on brand and model.

Thats a big Question. . I think you would get more Replies if you stated the mileage and success of owning what power adders, My experience with Banks,I believe they are the best modest power, I know of owners with 300k-500K on same engine with just normal maintenance. There are SO many variable's to consider it would be next to impossible to claim that 1 companies products are far superior. I have used and sold most, they all seem to have certain advantages in 1 area or the other.

I know that a lot of people do not like Banks but I have had a Banks Stinger on my 02 since 02 & never had a problem. It gives me all the power that I need & I have 100,000 miles on the truck. When I bought my Banks in 02 they were about the only reliable unit out at that time.

I think the Smarty Jr would be a decent tuner. If you don't drive like an idiot you should be fine. I would keep it on the lowest level SW1, and run the timing at 2 and the torque at 1. This will give you a nice bump in power and economy thru the mid range, but not enough to hurt anything (again, it's all in how you drive).

The biggest issue people have with Banks is that the cost is very high for the performance you get. I also read about poor customer service when there are hardware issues. I haven't ran Banks, that's just what I have gathered thru the great world of the internet.

We Made 1040 HP on Banks T-Dog Stacked ,EFIlive 1180 HP. My 2003 made 467 With Banks alone, 460 With T-Dog. I have Never dyno Smarty, Edge, and some other have all Been on the 03, Banks T-Dog have out performed them all in all around engine parameters,Smarty Banks just smoked little to much for my DD used, but performed well, To get the FULL benefit of custom Tuning nothing will match Dyno tuning at this time, it took Me 2 weeks just to re-map the FCA on our LMM,add another week for DD tune. Banks has improved the CS, Banks Fit and finish is Top.

I have had the Jr for 70K miles and really like it. I did the first 40K miles on SW1, 10K miles on SW2, and then 13K on SW3 and now about 7K on UDC.

When my motor was stock I ran SW1 and it did very well. As I added some mods (cam/turbo/studs) I upped the power, and now with the clutch I upped it a little more.

If you click on the link in my sig there is all my trucks info.

My dad has had a Jr on SW1 for about 90K miles, tows heavy and is still on the stock clutch at 105K miles on his 06 with a G56.

Thanks for all the replys. T&C what banks product would you recommend? I have pyro, boost and trans pod guages. would you use them or remove them for a monitor? i guess the million dollar question is, i dont need more power, i was just looking to perk it up some. Am i stupid to mess with it. T&C do you sell banks? i have also looked at the smarty but they always seam to smoke a lot, not looking for that.

I offer a money back guarantee on all MADS products. You have nothing to lose.

Bob, I don't want to hurt my truck. What does the JR do to get the power? Timing, Pressure, etc. Just worried about injector problems. How about my stock trans and the jr.

The smarty wont hurt your truck, only you can. Bob has a book called Smarty for Dummies and it really helps some people understand what it is actually capable of. also, i would recomend suncoasts valvebody and possibly a torque converter, does wonders for the stock trans and isnt that hard to install, simple actually except you should have an inch pound torque wrench to do it properly. converter not neccesary, depends on the status of your clutch material inside it. Unfortuneatly there is no way to tell except guess how hard you have used it in the past... ie. . full throttle into od, towing and not.

The Jr is timing, almost exclusively. It's not aggressive timing, just corrects the OEM emissions based timing map.

From various emails with Marco the Jr is mostly timing. The duration tables are stock. He does do some Marco magic on OEM limiters to get the ECM to fuel harder, but all in stock duration.

Timing on the 04. 5-07 is so friggin retarded there is a TON of power to gain. I am running mild timing on my UDC, and in places (towing rpms) am running 20°-22° more than stock, which makes for a LOT of rwhp.

So i just want to make sure I am understanding you guys. SO the JR is creating its power from just timing changes? Not increasing rail pressure, pulse, etc? THat almost seams hard to belive. THanks for helping me understand this.
