Okay I've got one for you guys. I found that the actuator on my turbo went south on me and that seems to be my power loss problem. I called the dealer today they said the actuator is not sold seperate that I would have to replace the whole turbo. called a turbo shop and they said they are back ordered for life!!!!!! any idea's where I can get one????? Thanks in advance. Brian

How did you determine the the actuator went south? And what does the actuator do. .

Harvey, I had a low power problem I was told to check it by unhooking the vacuum line that runs off of it. when I did the truck came alive and runs very well. so I was told that the problem is in the actuator. could it be an adjustment?????

What would the problem be of leaving the vaccum line un-plugged and just plug off the vaccum hose and the port on the actuator?? Where is Piers when you need him??????

fire803, you don't mention year of truck or type of engine, turbo,etc...

RHarvey, if you remove the vacuum line from the turbo the wastegate(actuator) will not be able to sense boost pressure and therefore allow FULL boost with no control, not bad for get up and go but you might end up with overboost codes and the ECM should start cutting back fuel (on ISB engines). I don't think there are any sensors on a 12-Valve engine to control or moniter this.

Easy now I'm new to the diesel thing I am not sure what information is needed for different problems. the truck is a 1994 dodge 5. 9L cummins diesel with halstat turbo.

Fire, you can run around with the wastegate actuator disconnected for a while if your engine is not too modified. Mine was too modified and it let to head gasket failure. If you want to, ask Vic or Piers at BD how much for a 16cm turbine housing and just switch the housing to a non-wastegated style
