Turbo boost / EGT question ?

I've just installed a boost\EGT gauge (mechanical) and have a question regarding boost and exh. temp.

Yesterday pulling a 3000 LB. trailer in an area with rolling hills, ( 50-8o MPH) I would stomp and hold the throttle and:

A. The boost would go up to about 33-34LBS. then drop down to about 28LBS. then settle at 30LBS. Is this the wastegate controlling boost, and is this normal ?

B. EGT would climb to 1200-1400 degrees by the time I hit 80 MPH. Is this normal?

I'll be towing cross country in April at about 14000 gross, and I need to know what my perimeters should be over the Rockies etc?

B. i hope you have the pyro probe pre tubo. when i am pulling my 15k trailer i only allow EGT's to climb to around 1300 deg. and i have no problems to date. keep it below 1300 to assure yourself a little temp variance.

To get lower egts do you drop your speed?

What is the best way to conrtrol it.

My wife will be driving it, I'll be in a large rental truck comunicating with her via walkie/talkies.

downshift to keep the rpm's up or just feather the throttle to maintain temps. i weighed about 23k, when going up grades i just look at pyro and keep it 1300deg. or lower. some boxes like the tst would be an excellent choice for multiple driver trucks cause you can set temp defuel limits. my friend has a 06' mega with a tst box, you can flat foot the throttle and it will keep temp's below your preset limits.

The easiest, cheapest and fastest way to drop EGT's is one of these:

This will keep your boost in the 38-40psi range and will lower egts at least 100 degree and usually more at WOT or under max EGT conditions.

Your numbers sound similar to my 06'. Be sure to check the actual range of the walkie talkies. The advertised range is probably wrong.
