Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) motor misses

I did a search, but I couldn't find the info I'm looking for. What kind of boost pressure numbers should I see when driving at 65 mph on level ground. My guage shows 5lbs and slowly goes to 1lb even with RPM and speed staying the same? Is this normal? It spools back up if I hit a rise or give it more fuel. Any help would be great.

That's the characteristic of a turbo and what happens when the engine load comes on. I run at less that 10psi when cruising on flat ground but when I hit a hill or just want to speed up that boost goes right up to 30 psi almost instantly.

That's what I thought but mine never gets above 15lbs more like 10lbs is normal. I made an appointment with Dodge and found out there is a TSB on the waste gate / boost controller. I'll post afterward.

Yeah, you may have a leak somewhere, cuz if 15# is your max @WOT then you have any issue somewhere. You should be at least 20psi at WOT.

don't look for boost when you don't need it.

mine only has about 2 lbs at 65 on level road. there is NOTHING wrong with that.

why do you think you need boost when cruising?

as long as it is there when you get into it - stop worrying.

I'm a worrier I guess but I was right my wastegate was bad and replaced now it holds a boost and spools up like yours, before I was getting under 15lbs @ WOT. Thanks for everyones input. eg

Sounds normal for stock. My 98 would max at 17# before the #6 plate and will hit 32# now if I don't run out of road. My 95 with the #6 plate cruises at speed at about 4-6# boost.

I've got plenty of SPG... till I have to fill up! :(

I average about 8-10psi on the road cruising. I usually get about 16-17 lately... . but I've been running it up to cruising speed pretty quick! :D

Cruising on the limited roads here in Kodiak I average about 2psi at 55mph. I have reached a high of 12psi from a stop by stepping on it.

I'm not getting much over 15 in mine. should I check into the wastegate or is it normal. some say that's average and some say that's low. who really knows?
