which of the two should i get??? ill be putting it in the tap difectly under the air horn. what exaclty is the difference? does it matter?

Essentially they are the same thing. Boost is the psi measured anywhere on the intake side of the turbo, usually just where you mentioned - under the intake horn. This will give you the boost numbers at the closest point to the valves, and, if there is any boost leak you will notice it there better than anywhere else because the leak would have to be on the turbo side of the fitting.

ok, but i dont understand why the manifold gauge goes seems go to 40psi, and the boost goes to 30psi or 60psi?

also, whats the max boost i should be running in a stock truck?

Stock is right around 14 psi - not a huge number but enough. Mine pegs the 35 psi meter with the mods in my sig .

manifold pressure is just another name for boost . The gauge manufacter your looking ad my make many types of pressure guages . . autometer makesa ton vacuum/boost/ boost in lots of different ranges, manifold pressure , and Blower pressure. . all do the same thing and just display it differently, with different ranges or "names" etc. . like forrest said you could use a oil pressure gauge to do they same job...

What brand are you planning on useing?. . if you even plan to mod you truck I would get a gauge that gos higher then 35psi . . liek a 60 or 100 psi gauge. . just so you only bought a guage once instead of twice to upgrade it later. .

im looking at the isspro. as far as what i plan on doing to the motor in the future? ill have to wait till i get out of diesel school an then see how the money situation is. i am leaning towards the 30psi or the 40psi though, because i like to have a little more presice reading and actually be able to see the gauge work, not just a little bump from the peg when im a 10-15psi, if you know what i mean.

Like Jim said get the bigger guage with a full sweep. The Pump screws will get you over 30psi no problem... your Diesel school should help you with that... do class project!

Thanks

In the air plane world, manifold pressure is used and corrected for altitude. Ask ISSPRO if the manifold gauge is correct for altitude. Then, if it is, it be very much different than psi. It would be mercury. I think it is Hg if I recall.

Does the gauge say psi on the face? I have seen them advertised in the Genos cataloge. I have wondered why they want you to install an airplane guage in your truck .

the face of the gauge says "Manifold Press" the boost says "Turbo Boost"

in the discription of the manifold pressure one though, it says its a 40psi gauge. USDieselParts.Com sells it in a kit with an egt gauge an the mount so i assume its for trucks and not planes.
