Attention: TDR Forum Junkies First post and it is not even about my Truck.
Anyhow, my brother in-law has a 98. 5 2500 CTD 24 valve. He has been running Fram air filters (I know not good) and has started to get a ticking or clicking sound when it is cold and wet out. It seems to only happen when the turbo is producing boost.
We took his air box hose off and looked in the cold air side of the turbo and his turbine fans were somewhat dirty. I told his he was getting moisture and dirt past the air filter and it was sticking to the turbine blades causing a slight imbalance. Am I giving him a correct diagnosis? or am I totally off base here.

BTW - I have been reading the board almost every day since August and I have learned so much. It has been a real asset. Also anyone in Utah want to do a meet and greet, drop me an email.
