Anyone here put Howards Cool down timer on a 4. 5 yet?

I installed it on mine with a few of his suggested fuse locations and it works but upon start up the engine light stays on. :--)

If you have installed it on any 03 or 04 with out these problems I would be interested to know what fuse locations you used, thanks,

Keith

Make sure that you have the wiring instructions for your year truck. I spent a lot of time when I got my 04 because they changed the wire color coding from 03 to 04. I do not know if DC did it again with 04. 5 The instructions from the vendors were for 03 to hookup for things like my exhaust brake, tailgate lock power for the guages. Seems like at that time no one was aware of the changes.

cool down timer

I have a cool down timer on my 04, 3500 drw 48re.

I used fuse #53 according to instructions, and when

I pulled fuse #53 up I turned the key on to check which

side of fuse was hot, it set an error code #p0480, which

is cooling fan (control circuit). other than that it works like

it's supposed to. I think I set the code by turning switch

on with the fuse pulled. I had the dealer erase the code.

I hope it does'nt come back. HB

I just went out and tried your way (one of the ways I have tried before ) and still have the light come on.

I also am showing the 0480 code on the odometer when I turn it to on. After turning the ignition to run then off 5-10 times it stays off till I use the timer again.

any one else hav'en any luck?

my check engine light doesn't stay on, but after I had the

po480 code cleared, the first time I used the timer, the code

came back. have you contacted Howard and picked his brain

about this?? I don't think the po480 code I have hurts anything,

but It shouldn't be there.

Keith, I used fuse #28 because it was easier to deal with.

then I put a jumper wire from the blue wire on fuse #28

over to spare relay plug #69 passenger side slot of plug.

that took care of my code problem. I think what was happening

was when in timer mode, fan control circuit wasn't getting power.

and that set the code. the jumper wire feeds the proper circuit

while in timer mode. worked for me. hbowers
