Tonight coming home from a friends house I was getting on the freeway and heard a loud bang like the pressure valve flew off the engine. Scared the heck out of me. I looked at the important gauges and didn't see anything bad but noticed a loss of power and a hissing sound. Pulled over and couldn't see anything so I limped it home watching the EGT go high if I tried to get any power out of it.

After getting home I took the intake lines off and checked the turbo to see if it was munched and found that it was spinning just fine.

Had my wife go and start the engine and rev it up to 2500 RPM and shut it down and whalllllllaaaa  . The turbo air cooler on the passenger side cap had been popped off. You would think that the cooler would be made a little better considering the amount of pressure and force involved.

Looking at the cooler, the metal core has tabs that are curled over the plastic end caps. Well, Im off to Dodge to get a new one in the morning. Oo.

This happened to me about a month ago. I was getting onto the freeway had the Edge-Juice/ Attitude turned up to 5x5 coupled with a full throttle run down the acceleration lane, approximately 43 psi, truck shifted into 4th gear and locked then "Boooooom-----Hisssssssssssss" My dealer covered the IC under warranty, they only asked if I would remove the black "Box" :-laf in case the DC rep stopped in while the truck was being repaired. I now have a nice aluminum IC.

So I take it that the new units are all aluminumminum. My dealer called me and told me that the replacment number was back ordered for three weeks but they were able to find the same unit that is in there a day a way. I should probibly complain and make them get the better of the two and install it later for me. Let me know what the new units are made of if you could. I know that RJOHNSON had one put in but was it a stock repacment or an aftermarket unit?

Thanks Again guys!

Yes Pilotman mine is 100% Mopar, P/N 55056593AA all Aluminum. First thing I noticed when I got my truck back was it was more responsive and boost was around 36 psi with stock settings, previously with the plastic unit I could only hit around 32 psi +/- suggesting either the plastic unit was leaking from the factory, or the hoses had loosened up a bit since then. Either way I drive my truck like a Corvette and everything still feels nice and tight since the install about 4K miles ago.
