Is there any chance of damaging the turbo from the metal shavings produced when the thermocouple hole is drilled and tapped?

Also, does anyone know if installing a Juice box leaves a tell, tell sign that it was installed after it is removed? My friend has an 02 model that required breaking a seal of some sort that stated "if this seal is broken or missing, warrant voided, etc. ,"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The VOID sticker on your friends '02 was on the VP44 pump connector... you don' thave that.

Just put a magnet and/or shop-vac to the hole and it will get anything you might have had to worry about.

another trick is to start the engine before the final penetration and that will keep the chips out too.

not many turbos lost by shavings unless something really stupid is done :-laf

I never had a problem doing that on the stock manifold, either. Later, when I got the ATS, I drilled/tapped it on the bench, before the install.

There was a lot of threads on that subject in Third Generation groups. I worried about it on mine because the manifold is a straight shot to the turbo, as is yours. Most of the guys just drilled and tapped it without worrying about the metal. That's what I did. It started without incident. Good luck. :D

I drilled mine twice. Used grease on the bit, then fired it up at the last minute, just as it punched in. Got 57k on the truck with no problems, now.
