Well, I am touring in Europe, and we just arrived in Venice Italy... What did I see at the hotel. . BRAND NEW Grand Cherokee TURBO DIESEL... . Also seeing LOTS and LOTS of other Diesel cars, trucks, etc... . Even Diesel SMART CARS that get about 60 MPG... . But I was Amazed THAT I saw the grand cherokee, I ttol pics and will post them in a couple weeks when I return!

I'm suprised you see any cars at all. Last time I was there all I saw were boats. Diesels too. Too bad no diesel gondolas.

Back in '97 when I was living and working in England, they had plenty of diesel Grand Cherokees. Diesels are widely used in the UK and Europe. I had (for a week) a diesel Vauxhall compact car that couldn't have made over 30 HP! going up hill you'd get slower and slower. Boy, did I miss my cummins then! I only saw two large american trucks - a Ferd and a Dodge - when I was there. Small roads all around.

This is nothing new. Diesel's have been all over Europe for a long time. When I lived in Germany back in the late 90's I saw Diesel's all over the place in just about every line of car. The car I had over there was a '96 BMW 320tdi. It was a 2. 0 liter strait 6 turbo diesel. Not bad, but not a cummins. The worst thing I drove was a Citron Diesel flatbed truck with get this a 4 cylinder diesel  It was owned by a good friend of mine from Munich,Germany. It could not get out of it's own way. I'm just happy our trucks in the USA come with Diesel's the have some balls :D

BTW all of DC's European products such as the Jeep Grand Chrokee are all made in Austria. Their smaller diesel's all come from somewhere in Europe, mostly Italy or Austria.

When I visited my family in the Frankfurt Germany area 2 years ago I did lots of traveling around the country in a TDI Golf wagon and it was super fast. The first time I seen a "Big Rig" over there I about ****** myself because it wasn't much bigger than my quad cab longbox Dodge and that was including the trailer it was pulling. I sat an ohhh'd and awww'd over the cars and SUV's they have over there... some really cool vehicles! I bet I could fit 10 of the average family cars over there on my 32' trailer. One thing is for sure in Germany... no space is taken for granted... clostraphobic people would go insane after only a few hours there.
