Just wondering if anyone has heard an engine whine or turbo whine when there CTD was cold? It is almost like the trubo was winding down way after I let off the accelerator. It is kind of loud compared to what I usually hear, but seems to go away after it heats up some.

I've got a 2004 HO with a 6 spd, and noticed the other day, a whine from the motor/turbo. It was about 18 degrees outside and I did not have it plugged in. I was going to lunch. I started the truck and let it warm up for a few minutes and then took off. The truck has about 1400 miles on it. It started during acceleration and then was real noticable during each shift.

I don't think it's a problem, but just wondering what everyone had to say about it. I hate those short drives during lunch:{ It can't be good for my new truck.

Still love my 2nd CTD:)

Thanks,

Dave

PS. Sorry the description isn't any better. Oo. Oo.

I get some kind of sound/whine from somewhere when it is quite cold. I don't worry much about it as it goes away as things warm up. These trucks are so quiet I think we hear to many other little things. I just drive and enjoy.

yup, i heard that noise a few times. most recent today when leaving work. about 20 degrees. almost sounds like a resonance at a specific RPM. somewhere between 1500 and 2000. its obviously temp related. it goes away after about 1 row through the gears.
