I'am looking at putting a B-1 turbo on my truck and was wondering if I will still be able to use my PAC-exhaust brake? It looks like the exhaust brake is pretty close to the fire wall already with the stock turbo.

I know when I installed my B-1,I needed a new downpipe and your Pac-Brake will not work. You will need the PRX40 style that mounts in the exhaust pipe. Do you have the kwik-spool model? My B-1 was a very good performer above 2000 rpm but low speed cooling realy was lacking while towing. I just replaced mine a few mos. ago with twins and what a difference. My mechanic said the B-1 was a very good turbo in its day,but similar to computers, technology catches up and the old dinosaurs become obsolete. I know there are several different variants of the B-1 and I don't know which model you have, but I think for towing the Kwik-spool model was the chosen one.

I haven't bought the turbo yet the shop that does the work was telling me to start out with the B-1 and if I wanted to up grade to twins it wouldn't be hard to do. I don't want to go threw this twice I'd rather just do the twins. What set up are you running I've been told that I can us my stock turbo in a set up with the B-1?

A B-1 would best be used as the secondary..... as I said before, the turbo did very well on the upper rpm range. I have the BD towing twins and with my mods the egt's comfortably hover around 800-850 WOT. The cost is high but the end result is awesome!Any load placed on the engine at below 1700rpm pushed my egt to 1200 before with the B-1. As long as the r's were above 2000... . no problems!Interesting statistic to point out was that if I let the rpm go up to 2200 or above you could see the egt stabilize and actually come down a bit at times. This is why I think it would be best used as a secondary.
