turbo for 03 with smarty jr & edge juice

I have 120000 miles on my truck and i was thinking of changing the turbo in it. I have a bd brake on the truck so i am not sure what will and will not work. I tow a 26 foot snowmoblie trailer up the hills i dont want any thing crazy just a little more than i have it also seems a little doggy off the buttom now??? I have a 08 6. 7 and it is way stronger out of the hole could be the trans but it just seem like my turbo takes some time to catch up

It you want more turbo get a He351 out of a newer truck. I put one on my truck with a boost elbow and she hauls a little better now. It will work with your exhaust brake too. I put on ATS manifold at the same time too. They sell for $300. I used to be 26psi now I am over 35. Check out dieseltruckresource.com they have a real good thread on the conversion.

Unless your stock turbo is kaput... . and you are doggy/laggy off the bottom now?



There is not much out there that will be an improvement. There are several direct bolt on turbos, they are all larger than the stock turbo, and will most certainly have more lag.



Sounds like you may have other issues, my 03 stock, was never laggy on the bottom. Boxes and programmers increased my(stock)bottom end enormously, I started changing turbos to keep egt's cool, the only one that came close to stock spool(that I owned)was a 62/71/14, although I believe a BD Super B would spool quicker.
