Is is possible to put a non VG turbo on the 6. 7 and have everything run correctly. I understand that the exhaust brake will be gone, but I am starting to have turbo problems at 33k miles.

Or would it be better to do a dpf and egr removal?

Thanks.

Since the 6. 7L engine turbo has inputs from the ECM for the Variable Geometry Turbo to work correctly, this is part of the exhaust brake. I do not think the 5. 9L turbo would work with out throwing some engine codes. May not even bolt up with out some modifications being done to the exhaust and inlet ports.

If you are the original owner, I would have the turbo fixed under warranty and have all of the latest flashes done to the engine first.

Depending on the state that you live in you might be able to do the deletes. Then like Calf. you can not do the deletes because they look for visible tampering of the emission equipment. When they do the smog testing on your truck.

I have an aftermarket turbo on my truck. (see sig) I am also fully deleted. I did have to buy a new manifold to go with it.

It is great. The turbo is wastegated at 42 psi. The Stainless steel manifold came predrilled for the pyo sensor and a drive pressure sensor. I ordered it from John at Holland Court Diesel. You have to make sure and get all the coolant block off plugs because the vgt is water cooled. We were able to use my same oil line but most people by a new one for a 5. 9. I see you have the smarty so you are all set to fully delete, you would just have to change to the me software. I am now at 120,000 miles, I am going to guess 40,000 with the new turbo.
