hi, my 2001 3500 4x4 had the turbo gate stuck so i jamed it open all the way

the trucks works fine but can it hurt something else? i didn`t want to buy a turbo unless i just got to so do ya think i can use it like this? thanks

Thanks,so should i jam it closed and leave it?my truck is totally stock and i just want it to be reliable and pull like it did when it was new.

I have had this same problem with mine. I sprayed the snot out of it with penatrating oil and used an air compressor with the blow gun attachment to work the gate back and forth. Just pull the hose off the elbow coming off the compressor side and shove the blow gun into the rubber hose going to the wastegate actuator. If I don't drive mine hard enough to hit the max set boost, this happens over and over. Good Luck!

The auto trucks are using a different turbo than the 6 speed one. Which do you have?

I have my truck diving almost as good as a 2wd. Why is yous difficult to drive?

fox, beside the fact that i installed a 2. 5inch levelling kit and sent my alignment out of wack, none of the 2nd gen dodge trucks drive good compared to the competitions heavy duty trucks. These trucks should still have a leaf spring front end in my opinion.

I'm just curious about this method in case I ever need to use it.

When blowing into the waste gate hose, do you use full line pressure, like 110-120 PSI?Or do you have to regulate it down a little, so you don't put too much pressure and blow a diaphram or something?

TIA, Ray

fox ,my 01 3500 is 6 speed and is a dumping flatdeck and it isn`t pulling like it should it has the 355 gears and it can`t take 6th gear only on the level. i have to get it pulling again its just terrible on Milage. the waste gate was seized so i do have a turbo problem

i think the 1st thing i`ll do is install a turbo boost guage. thanks

Chech it for codes to!!

Key cycle 3 times, read them in the odo window.

if it is down on power it could be the VP.

I'm pretty sure 2000 and newer truck it works on.

Turn key on-off-on-off-on in 5 seconds or so and the odometer window will show codes. Write them down. It will do PCM first then ECM. Check service manual or back here for codes info.

Fox i hooked my truck up to a friends superchip programmer and my truck had a overboost code ,so i guess i must have closed my turbo shut rather than open huh?

Hey, Just replying to the past message. I usually start at a regulated 40 psi and work up from there until it starts moving. I have used air psi up to I believe 100psi and nothing broke yet. Knock on wood!

when there is a error code sucj as overboost in the computer does this cause the engine to be derated or does it affect the performance in anyway?
