I want to control the underhood heat from the turbo (AC and air filter) with either a shield or heat wrap. I always understood it was advantageous to retain the heat in the turbo/exhaust system for efficiency. Any disadvantages to wrapping the turbo and downpipe? Corrosion, coking the metal, etc? Did anyone experience any performance differences, mileage increases towing? Thanks!

I've thought about this too.

We put header wrap on my friend's race truck, and you can touch the headers immediately after a pass and not get burnt. Its warm but won't blister you.

The only drawback is it makes stuff rust much faster.

Anyone done anything like this?
