Need help,

I have been having a hard time keeping my turbo hose from coming off. Seems to slip out from under the clamp and start to leak. I stop and put it back and tighten up the clamp more than I think I should, but still it will come back off when pushing Boost levels up to 30 - 35 lbs while towing? Is their any heavier hoses available? This one seems to be ballooned out of shape. I figure that it needs replaced but thought if anyone new of a better than stock hose I would get one. I'm sure there are some of you that run boost levels higher than what I do that has run into this problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yep Mine did that constantly ... ... . take a bottle of RUBBING ALCOHOL (91%) and soak a good part of a rag in it and clean the Inside surface and OUTSIDE surface of the metal tubes and ... ... . Viola! Mine hold 48#'s (Altho I have scince dialed that back but just to test to see what she can do :D )

When I was having my problems I noticed the hose would always blow off in the same spot, got looking and the gap between the two ends of the clamp has a thin piece of stainless that had become deformed to the point it was not at the same radis. Made some new pieces and cleaned with alcohol, also scuffed inside of hose and outside of pipe with some emery cloth and put it all back together, not problems since.

I replaced the stock clamps with the spring loaded constant pressure type clamp and also got a new hose which was blue sillicone with steel wire around it to keep it from expanding. 2001. 5 and 2002 trucks have the constant pressure clams from the factory probably to help with this problem.

If you're talking about the hose from the turbo to the cooler, I had the same problem. I just double clamped it and no more problem.

I will clean it and also ruff it up and see if I can get by without getting a new hose. If not I will get a new one and spring loaded clamp.

Thanks to all.

Use a torque wrench at least once to get a feel for how tight the clamps need to be, 72 in/lbs. This much more than I would ever consider by feel alone. Hair spray on the tube will also keep it from blowing off.

hose alignment

My 2000 company truck did this several times. I found that the metal connector pipe was misaligned. Dealer mechanic tried to blame problem on dirty air filter, but he adjusted the pipe and it has not happened since. I have been running the air filter on my 95 for 10K since and it has not moved the air flow indicator even when I pull 30+ pounds of boost and I have never blown a hose on it.
