I have a friend that wants me to help him turn up his 93 D250 because he knows that I have helped some other friends reach "correct" HP levels in their truck.

My question is will a 12cm2 turbo housing mate to the stock turbo on the 93.

I can get hold of a smoked HX35, due to a faulty K&N, and matching down pipe. The housing is still good. The compressor wheel looks like it has gravel ran thru it and the bearings are toasted.

Also I am not sure about this but it is my understanding that injectors from a 2nd Gen Cummins are not a direct replacement for 1st Gen Trucks. Just wondering because I can also get hold of a set of 215 HP injectors.

Thanks

I have done this...

Yes, the housing fits right on the turbo.

The downpipe from an ISB fits with some mods. The angle at the top is a little off, and it gets real close to the firewall.

Here is a picture of how mine fits...

As for more power... the best way to do this is injectors.

There's a couple of popular choices, plus some special made injectors... From Bosch, the PW injectors, which add about 30 HP, and from Lucas, the POD injectors, which are about 50 HP more.

You will also want to advance your injection timing , a good place to start is somewhere near 1. 4 MM at TDC.

The 215 injectors would work absolutely wonderful at 8000 feet elevation for smoke control, with their excellent pattern and fine atomization, but they do not make more power... possibly a little less.

The downpipe has to be ground a bit to not hit the "ears" on the elbow, as it sits at somewhat of an angle, and the downpipe was cut to length to join the stock exhaust at the joint where the old downpipe came off. If you can have someone bend 3 inch pipe for you, you can tweak the pipe a little to get it to fit much better, with more clearance. You will also want to fix the "smashed" area of the tailpipe where it goes over the axle. It is flattened near the top, some are only an inch thick, and it seriously cuts the flow.

The downpipe was taken off from a truck that had a turbo-to-tail 4 inch system put on, and since there's no cat, the ISB's stock downpipe is quite long - you have to cut it to length.

I have a straight pipe exhaust, no muffler, and it's not significantly loud inside. (it is outside!!!)
