my main question is what size housing do i have?? running stock 1999, HX35W. i am looking to put in a southbend clutch this spring then injectors, and wondered about a turbo upgrade as well. it runs in my mind that if i stay on the small side, i get less turbo lag... but argueably higher EGT's. i have had this turbo making 44 psi with the blocked elbow and the JVD on hi power. do i really need a bigger housing when i can already develop this type of pressure for airflow???

Jeremy, just my opinion, but you are way outta the useful range of that turbo. Your egts. must be pretty high as well. I'm hardly a turbo guru, but I'd suggest that you consider a upgrade, at the minimum of a larger housing. I believe that the housing on the HX35 is 12cm. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If you are going to add larger injectors I believe that a new turbo is a must for you. I've been running a BD Power/Auto Wurks Diesel HX-40 with the 16 cm housing for one year now, no complaints. Kurt's B1 looks pretty sweet as well.

Jeremy, your stock turbo has a 12 cm2 housing on it that flows like a 16 when the wastegate is open.

Dissabling the waste gate is a NO NO.

The 12 housing still flows like a 12 housing, back pressure goes out of site like 80+ lbs.

HOOK your wastegate back up and set it for 30-34 psi max.

Run a 4" exhaust and Cold air kit and you will be fine, even with a box and injectors.
