How can I tell the size of a turbo housing? I was looking at some HX40W cores and notice that in the inside of the exhaust housings some had 18 and others had 16 stamp, the same appear on the outside emboss next to what look to be the housing part number. The Intake housings had an emboss circle with a number, #11, #12, #14. Are this numbers the size? I have tried calling Piers but I always get his answering machine, I must be one of hundreds calling him for information, thats what happens when you are one of the best. Piers, keep up the excellent work!

I don't know about the 40's...

But on the 35's it's in the outlet, near the flange. It will be covered with soot but mine was visible through it.

The HX40 exhaust housing will have the number of the housing size stamped inside the flanged portion of the housing that would bolt to the exhaust manifold just before it enters the scroll.

Thank you guys. I was sure that was it but wanted confirmation. What about the intake/compressor housing and I made a mistake the number is not on an emboss circle but it is emboss. Now all I have to do is find a good #16 exhaust housing that is not heat crack or has a leak at the waste gate actuator. I'm sure to end up with one mean truck with all the information you geniuses have. Thanks again.
