USB B1 With HT3B

External wastegate vrs. wastegated housing.

I just seen a fleet of buses all with 5. 9's, some diesel and some Natural gas. One cought my eye with the turbo that was on it. It had a really big compressor housing but a TINY turbine side with a 3 in exhaust. I was really curios to find out what it was, can you guys help me ID the turbo? One other diesel motor had an HX35 along with the CNG buses, but the other diesel bus had this turbo.

Kit- 3802272 RX

ASSY- 3530996

SER- M905883

CPL- 1261 B5. 9 190

Thanks guys.

I was looking at some Identical buses and this charger really stood out. Plus all the other buses said HX35 on them and they were 195 HP. This bus had a diffrent intake setup on it and the charger was mounted upward (higher than the valve covers) and it looked really big on the compressor side, but on the exhaust side it was really small and had what looked like the old first gen downpipes. But it wasnt an H1C either? Like I said it was really wierd looking.

What you have is in fact an WHIC the predecessor to the HX35. It is an older design and is slightly less efficent. If memory serves me correctly it has a 14 cm housing and the wastegate is set somewhere around 20-22 psi. Hope this helps

Non wastegated, It did have the first gen pipe clamps for the downpipe. I think the fact that it looked goofy was that it was mounted on top of the motor.
