For several thousand miles now my truck, with 147k miles, has demonstrated a turbo lag or stall situation off-idle. The condition seems to be getting worse. It occurs on launch, loaded or unloaded, just after clutch engagement. It results in very slow acceleration until engine speed reaches approximately 1900 rpm. The stall puts me at risk of getting run over when I have to turn left in front of oncoming traffic. When the truck was younger, as soon as engine rpm reached 1500-1600 rpm, boost would begin, the tach needle would swing, and the power surge would briskly launch the truck and trailer. Now, it frequently bogs with no boost until rpm very slowly rises closer to 2000 rpm. It seemed even worse than normal this morning when temperatures were in the 20s when I left the house.

I have asked my Dodge-Cummins mechanic friend about it. He checked for codes. No codes set. He also checked the lift/transfer pump flow rate. It was still pumping at the normal rate. He removed and cleaned the IAT sensor last week after I read a post by RustyJC on soot removal from the IAT. The sensor was soot coated as suggested. It was cleaned with carb cleaner and reinstalled.

Anyone have this experience or have any suggestions?

is the truck all stock I've had these problems with a truck that had a performance module installed ending up being a "lazy" vp44.
