Mods are listed in sig. My HX-40 only builds up to about 38 psi of boost. The EGT's dont get above like 1250 when staying in it for a while but I just put 35" Nitto Mud Grappler's on it last week and The turbo lag is too bad. I have plenty of stock turbo's at the shop so I would like to do something with those if possible. Anyone know any combos that I might could try. I have an adapter that I made to make a HX-35 bolt to my HX-40 downpipe. I just need something to spool alot faster and still make about 35-40psi of boost. I dont tow with the truck just everyday driver. Seems like the turbo lag with the tires is putting too much stress on the transmission. Are there any stock HX-35's with bigger exhaust housings so that the EGT's stay under control. My truck is a 98. 5 auto. Need help asap. Thanks. Plus I miss the ability of smoking the tires at the hit of the throttle:-laf

It seems to me that you would have to go to a smaller exhaust housing to get rid of lag. But that wouldn't help egts.

Are you sure the Turbo is lagging? Do you have boost guage?

The tires shouldn't have anything to do with turbo lag but it would take more horse power from the engine to get them rolling.

IMHO ;)

A bone stock HX40 will spool slower than a modded one. The HTT I currently have, spools the same as a PDR 40 that I had before, even though the compressor side is bigger.

Should have more than enough fuel to spool it just fine.

So this may be a stupid question but how do I tell if I have the 16mm ex. housing or the 18mm? I have plenty of HX-40s around and also HX-35, WH1C and so on

I have an HX40 on my truck with some similar mods and I have minimal turbo lag, in all actuality, the slight bit of turbo lag I have makes it more driveable. With the 35 I ran through my gears so quickly that the acceleration was too violent in my opinion for everyday street driving. Especially with my chips all the way up. I like the 40 better, but I also have a 6 spd manual, so the automatic might contribute to your turbolag while your torque conv. locks up. But I'm not a transmission guy, so that could be an incorrect statement. My 40 also isn't a "stock" 40, its from HTT, so the exhaust housing might be different than your application, anyway, good luck.

we have an h1c on a 94 12v and that thing is great and probably exactly what your looking for its sort of between an hx 35 and a 40
