:( I am very happy with my trucks performance but it seems to take forever to get going at times. Is this normal or am I just imagining it, but it seems worse after warming up? I have had everthing checked on the transmission and T/C pressures. Stall spd chked at 1800rpm on T/C BD said that was ok. It really goes but in a tight spot it is a dog until it gets going then hang on! I am thinking about cleaning the oxygen sensor? The pacbrake is working perfect also, its open when under throttle. It gets 19-20 mpg. Maybe, I'm just a cry baby? any ideas?

lag

Mine seems to lag alot more lately. I think its not starting in first. On another thread someone made mention that you can put a capacitor or somin in a line comin out of the ecm to get the transmission to upshift. If anyone knows the solution I would be thankful for a response.

One aspect of summer driving that makes lag much worse is the ac. The condenser gets hot, heats up the air going into the intercooler, then the ic gets hotter and less efficient. This makes the air going into the engine less dense and lowers the amount of O2 available to burn the fuel. Makes for more smoke and more lag. Ever since I put a screen in front of my rad and stuff lag has gotten worse. The temp of the ic makes a big difference.

Uhhh, these trucks don't have oxygen sensors.

You didn't say what kind of elevation you live at, but it sounds like you live in high elevation which is normal for diesels to do his in summer weather.

Turbo lag

:) Thanks guy's! I'll tighten up the hoses. The A/C is probably it. I live in Houston Texas 95F w/90% humidity and that is close to sea level so the A/C sounds about right especially because it gets worse after warmup. The oxygen sensor I am talking about is the 32mm deep socket to remove, with the plug for the EZ to plug into, near the lift pump thang! Sorry for my ignorance of termanology, I'll work on that. I don't have a manual yet but will get one today when I go to pick up my 180F thermostat at the Cummins dealer. I really appreciate your rapid response. "This is great" being in a gathering of people that really care and want to help,"that is a very good thing". I am so glad to be in TDR! Thanks again! We are going to drag our 5er all over this land and spread the gospel of JESUS CHRIST!

boost lag

b,

I live in CA and often see temps in excess of 100 degrees. This would include high altitude ( in excess of 6000 feet above MSL) driving in summer I don't have the problem you are sharing with or without the AC. I have had it run fine at 111 degrees. Warm/cold it doesn't matter with my truck. I do have to wait for the RPMs to get around 1500 before I notice power aplenty not matter what the temps or climate control settings are.

Looking for leaks around you is a good suggestion. Air filter would be another good place to look. Hope you find the culprit.
