I had my day in court...

Drag Racing Facts

Your banner site ad on the TDR initially interested me until I was unable to "back" command to the TDR main page. Only low budget as*****s and porn sites lock a potential customer to their site like this. It is really stupid for you to think that if you prevent me from back paging to the initial site that I will feel forced to buy something. Don't worry, I'll never buy your product.

I really don't think that they're trying to force you to stay at their site. Their site has flash on it, (which looks pretty cool by the way). The first page of the site detects whether or not you have the capability of viewing flash, then redirects you to the appropriate page, be it html or the flash intro. That's why you couldn't get back. Many flash sites are like this for technical reasons, not because they want to force you to stay on their page.

I agree with TX Diesel

That's a cheap tactic and not for "technical reasons". If they can't do it without trapping you, don't do it from a respectable site or too a "respectable"site. I would avoid them just for that reason.

simple solution. right click on the link, then select "open link in new window". easy as that. then you can use the ALT-TAB key combo [hold alt and hit tab] to cycle through the open windows. i do this when reading forums. open up 5 or 6 windows, minimize the forum window and read through the posts. .

I was watching the redirect and what I said in my first post about it is exactly what's happening. The main page is checking for your browsers ability to display flash, and then it's redirecting you to the appropriate page, either flash or html. Nothing more, nothing less. It IS for technical reasons. I've set up enough flash pages to understand what's happening. NOT a big deal. Geez.

I'm not diagreeing with you on the technical side but I still think it is deliberate. Click on the link on the top of this page, then click on the "back" button and you get back to the TDR. On the trubo master link you have to close your browser and reopen it to get back to the TDR. No other advertiser here does this ( that I know of ). Most people get really ticked off when a site attempts to trap them, including me. I resent it. Thats all. You shouldnt have to right click on the link, then select "open link in new window" when 99% of the other sites dont require it. I'll stick to my opinion that it is deliberate, albeit technical in nature.

Personly, I am sick of computer gurus telling me this or that can't be done because... ... ..... (not directed at you Jthorpe!;) )

It is simply amazing that computers get anything done.

We none computer savvy people hate that crap, and they will loose customers over it real quick, regardless of the reason.

I have to agree with Gene. Even us somewhat computer savvy types hate some stuff like that.

If this kind of thing is what you guys get mad and worry about, then I'd hate to see what would happen when something significant happened.
