Hi all,
I am finally going to pull the trigger on an exhaust brake . The million dollar question is will I limit myself to the turbo mount brake if I ever want to put a aftermarket turbo in the future? thanks in advance
Given a choice I would always choose the elbow. It builds back pressure faster, is designed for that purpose and frankly I can't think of any reason one wouldn't use it.
I have the Pac Brake that mounts on the back of the turbo. There are plenty of aftermarket turbos ( I have the Garrett stage 2 ) that will fit in place of the stock one. If you want to run twins or mega power that is a different story and a brake will impede the flow of the exhaust. David
BD offers direct fit turbos also, so replacing the stock elbow with a brake would be OK. You might check into their brakes and discuss compatibility with them.
You might consider the Pacbrake. A very amazing product! I drove an '06 IIRC that had a Banks brake, boy was that thing a waste! It sure didn't brake near like a Pacbrake did.
The two brakes are about equal in braking power but I like that BD uses stainless steel for the butterfly and aluminum bronze bushings in the casting for the buttery fly. Also like their electronics better too. Thanks all
