When my turbo spools up I hear a loud sucking air noise. I cant even hear the whine of the turbo any more. The truck still runs fine. plenty of power. truck is a stock 2005 5. 9 auto. Any ideas?

I had a similar thing happen to my work truck. I picked it up off the lot w/6miles on the odo. When I drove it away it would make a bad air-leaking noise whenever I was above about 10psi. I took it back to the dealer and they diagnosed a loose clamp on the intercooler that was leaking. It would be worth checking all your boosted inlet air clamps.

You could also have a cracked manifold. The stockers tend to crack overtime on some trucks. Also as I mention before. Check the filter in the CAI. Not so much of dirt, but make sure it is seated good in the air box. I have heard of some getting sucked in alitte towards the turbo. Causes restriction to the turbo.

Turbo Noise

THere were a few months in 05 when they used an intercooler that had plastic tanks on the end. You can easily identify them as they have a molded plastic grid instead of the smooth tanks like the alum versions. They had to replace a lot of them under warranty and went back to the metal tanks. I had an intercooler replaced on an 05, it went from plastic to the metal version. I just got a new 6. 7L and it has metal tanks.
