installed afe intake about 6 mon. ago now getting a noise coming from my turbo. sounds like its backfiring thru the turbo and other air noises any suggestions would be helpful not getting any help from dealership

Does this occur right after hard thottle and then a sudden lift off the thottle? What you are hearing is possibly compressor stall. The factory intake may have covered this noise and now the open AFE might not hide it as well. A change in driving style would fix this. Just roll off the thottle easy. Compressor stall won't damage a stock turbo in a stock environment, but could end the life of a turbo on a modified truck.

On the stock air box and the tubing to the tubo, there is a baffle assembly in side the air tube. This is to prevent turbo noise from being heard. I have replaced the air filter with and aftermarket filter but keep the sock air box. Some how my baffle fell out doing this change. I now will get a slight whining noise when I back off on the throttle. This is not real noisy since my wife can not hear the noise or she has just chosen to ignore sound.
