I went out to take my silencer ring off my turbo, and noticed that the interior of turbo housing on ring side was not smooth all the way around. Looks like it might be a fabrication thing when the housing was made? Or is it that something metal scrapped the side of it? I'm not sure and one fan in it had some weird looking sh&t on it. Tried to scrape off and the fan has a slight snag in it.

2002 H. O. with 5K on its od.

should i take it in to have them check it.

Not sure and don't want to wait around for anything else to fail if that is a possibility.

this truck sure does make a harder swoosh then my last one. It was auto and didn't have the same turbo.

Thank you for any help.

Does the "weird looking sh&t" white and look like paint or

dried bird poop? If so, that's just the paint mark they apply

for the balancing process (strobe). Don't mess with the

turbine wheel! Don't even try to clean off any residual

oil buildup. Mess with the balance and your bearings go

BYE BYE. If there is a "half moon" shaped cut in the

turbine, near the center shaft bolt,

that is the cut where material was removed

during the balancing process. Someone here once posted

a message worried it had broken off! No, it's OK.

The inside of the compressor inlet is probably just casting

and machining work. They don't spend a lot of time

cleaning up and polishing things on an assembly line. ;)

Thnak you Chris

That is kind of what I was thinking. The balancing thing makes perfect sense. Yes the ***** was exactly what you were describing. Glad I didn't mess around washing it off.

Again thanks a lot for the info. That is why we are all here!!!!!

Love my truck. :p

The looks we get from those convertible mercedes people with their cells during traffic lights just make me chuckle inside. They have their toys and we have ours!!!!!:D
