Does anyone have the part number for the oil drainback pipe that goes into the block next to the oil filter for the turbo on a second gen truck? I am in need of one. I bought a used twin kit and need this piece. Thanks in advance.

Part number was the wrong one. That was for the drain back tube that comes off the turbo. I was looking for the nipple that goes in the block. :D They are different on the third gens. Anyway, the cummins shop is getting it for me.

Like you say, they are diffrent on the third gens, very short and straight as oppose to the ~2" sweeping curve on the second gen's. The hole is the same size though, they'll interchange.

exactly. :D right now I have the short one in both the front and back hole. I need to change the front one so it does not interfere with the oil filter.

How do you get these nipples out of the block with mangling it? I have a +04. 5 turbo oil drain pipe with the flexible tubing that I want to install that replaces this nipple. I tried to get the nipple out of the block and it is in there tight!

I don't think you could get one out without mangling it. They drive in there really tight. In fact, I think you'd have a difficult time getting it out at all without removing the pan and driving it back up from the bottom.

Can you post a pic of this "flexible tubing drain pipe" that the 04. 5's use? I've never seen one.

-Scott

It's the length of 03 drain pipe + block nipple + ~2 inches.

If I measure along the curve = ~11 inches.

If I measure just the vertical length, without taking into account the curve, = ~10 inches.

This pipe is not a tight press fit into the block; the O-rings create the press fit seal.

I wanted to use this tube because the HTB2 and SPS turbos are slightly forward compared to stock causing the hose to be slightly off-set. Looks like I might try to tweak the stock drain tube a bit to get better alignment.
