Turbo or Tc?

Signature truck has 26k and tows a 6-8k trailer 5 days a week, with e-brake on.



Problem: In the last 2 weeks the e-brake or tc is surging when decellerating on steeper hills. When the trans. shifts into 3rd the rpm's are at 2400 and the surging continues until 2000 rpm's. During the surging the egt's jump up and down 10-15* and boost by 1-1. 5lbs. It does'nt happen everytime, but most of the time. No cel's and no drivability issues. Please help, before I take it to the dealer. :confused:
 
sounds like vanes sticking in turbo... . shouldnt be based on how you use itbut... . are there long idle times? even occasionally?
 
I idle just long enough for the egt's to hit 400 degrees, usually no more than 3 minutes. On cold mornings, I use the high idle feature, but still, no more than 3-5 minutes tops.



It sure feels like the torque converter is unlocking/locking but it happens so quickly, that I don't notice any change in rpm.
 
Took the truck to the dealer. Test drove with the trans. guy and the diesel guy, to diagnos the problem. Just got a call from dealer and they replaced the turbo and a reflash. So far so good.
