I bought a 98 that needed a turbo. The truck has a stock hx35. The compressor housing and wheel are bad along with the exhaust wheel. The only thing good is the exhaust housing and the bearing housing. We have to put a bushing in the bearing housing to make it useable. I priced out upgrading to a hx40 hybrid. To go to a stage 3 and Hx40 compressor side and keep the 35 exhaust side total cost will be right about $425. This is a complete rebuild new exhaust wheel new compressor housing and compressor wheel. Do you think this is the best bang for the buck option or are there better ones out there. I'm not looking for all out dyno numbers with this truck. I just want something that will tow great.

If you can do it for $425 than yeah thats a good bang for the buck. Although you should really get a 14cm exhaust housing because the stock 12 really chokes it off. Getting a 14 would set you back aleast $400 more though and you could buy an S300G based turbo for that much which is better than a hybrid.

That is a pretty good deal. Is the rest of your truck stock, or have you added some fuel to spin the stage three? We could give better answers if you filled out your sig.

I agree. Adding a bigger compresor wheel that flows more air, won"t be much of a gain, without a bigger turbine housing. Might be OK if you have 3. 55 gears, but not with 4. 10s. To much restriction.
