I was talking to a friend that also likes to play with diesels. He has a power stroke but oh well. Any way he says I could just upgrade the turbine in my existing housing instead of a whole new turbo. He said when he changed turbos on his truck that when he got it it was the same housing he allready had. Right now I have the stock Hx 35 I believe. Thats what comes stock on a stick right? I'd like to use more of the power going out the exaust pipe since I just added smarty and stacked it with my comp. I know a clutch is in the near future too.

Upgrade it how? Bigger turbine, same housing? Your new turbine will actually become more of a restriction in the exhaust stream, raising boost AND backpressure and possibly EGTs, not to metion more stress on your stock shaft with the bigger turbine.

It is best to purchase an entire turbocharger with matched components best suited to the horsepower level you are trying to attain. You can sell your stock charger to offset some of the cost. Guys on here love the stock turbo to build twins around.
