I've already experienced at P0234 Code suggesting turbo overboost. No problem was found & the code has been reset.

Am curious as what controls the boost of the turbo charger. I am surmising that the ECM is the primary controlling factor with the waste gate opening as a fail safe measure in the event the PSI doesn't come down fast enough?

If so... at what pressure does the wastegate "open"? and at what PSI is a "Code" generated in the ECM indicating overboost?

Thanks for enlightening me.

The waste gate is what determines the amount of boost. If it sticks closed than you could get an over boost condition. Stock trucks normally see around 180-20 lbs of boost. Something around 23 is over boost. SNOKING
