Turbo Question

Has anyone blown their turbo and if so, at what mileage? Think mine just went today at 79K. Hope this nothing to do with the heating issue I was having. John

04. 5 3500, SRW, SB, Flowmaster muffler, AFE air intake, Jacobs exhaust brake, other than that stock

What makes you think the turbo went bad? What's it (not) doing? I see you have a jake brake, could there be something with that? How's your air filter? Did any charge air hoses come off? Have you been shutting the engine down without letting the turbo spin down (like coming down off the highway)?

NO POWER!! Black Smoke!! The exhaust brake only works with decelleration, not accelleration. Air filter and hoses are OK. And ALWAYS cool turbo.

What I meant about the brake was that it's staying applied, but it sounds like that's not the problem. Can you explain more about the cool turbo? Do you mean that the hot side isn't getting hot?

i think he means she is froze up or came apart?



have you pulled the air inlet hose off and looked to see if the compressor wheel is still in one pc?



does it spin freely?

My 06 is on turbo number 3 at 28k on the odo. I have experienced bearing failure in each one so far. The truck is stock.

Thats not normal. Something is probably wrong somewhere else or your causing it... .
