Turbo question

My 95 3500 may need the turbo replaced. Waste gate is rusted off and I believe it is leaking oil on the shaft seal exhaust side. My questions are can I use a newer turbo with the boost reference signal going to the turbo housing where mine has a line that goes over the engine which is also rusted. I like the idea of less plumbing. Is a newer one a bolt on? Also where is a decent deal on a replacement turbo. Thanks.

The wastegate doesn't care where it's boost reference comes from. Lots of people have done away with the line to the AFC. Just be sure to cap it. The latest rage is the K27 if you want something other than an HX-35. A "decent deal" is relative. You could give Power Driven Diesel a call and get all the info you are looking for.
