Anyone know if they are going to recall the 07. 5 turbos for the turbo charger variable vane seizing up?#@$%! Any news on the TSB for cleaning these things with the Millers special tools parts 10142, 10143:{

Regards Conn

I think Deleting the DPF & EGR is the fix. LOL

I KNOW my turbo is clean and happy now !

Cheers,

Yukon Chris

Also helps to reroute the PCV. That way it won't coat the turbo (and everything else) with oil before dumping soot all over it.

1 emissionless truckOo.

Ya, just take a piece of fuel line or tube that will fit into the hose that goes to the turbo. Remove the hose where it goes into the intake and you can get a 1/2 in pvc pipe plug, the threaded ones, and it should fit right in where the hose came out. Make sure to plug that hole or you will be drawing in unfiltered air. Then run the new hose into the vent tube and down along the wheel well. Find a nice spot to stow it and away you go. Mine has not dripped at all since I vented it out. This is one of the easy mods you will have on your new truck. Keeps the whole intake nice and clean.

Let's not get confused with Furd ok?

Its not a variable vane turbo

Its a variable geometry turbo -sliding nozzle.

sorry my mistake,i have photos of the sliding nozzle out and the turbo stripped down , but it seems some of the 07. 5 should have had a furd badge on them till they sorted out the turbo issues

Pictures man, pictures ... they are worth a million words.

any good suggestions on the deletions?:confused:

When you do the EGR block, unhook the neg battery cable on both batteries while you are doing the block and removing the butterfly. This is because the computer sometimes surges if you don't. Removing the cables clears all the info out of the computer and it starts fresh. Solved my problem when I did mine.

Photos!!!! I will try to post today if I get some spare time. Ha! :-laf

TSB 11-001-08 "Turbocharger Cleaning Procedure" was released today to address this.

Issuing a T. S. B instead of a recall? Smart! They must not want to fix their f-up. That and when you do bring it in, on your dime, gives them a chance to void your warranty. Way I see it.
