Hey there been having turbo problems. Full of oil in the intake impeller. Looked pretty bad so decided from recomendaton to clean intercooler & piping. Cleaned and reinstalled everything but can't get turbo out to rebuild it. The bolts that hook it up to the manifold are very tight. Tried pb blaster, whole can, didn't work. Just got a can of liquid wrench and tried hooking to open end wrenches in there cause that was all i could fit but way to tight still. Advice?

Try tightening them a bit, then loosening. You could also try some heat. It that doesn't work, pull the manifold.

There are several people on another forum that say a 50/50 mix of atf and acetone dissolves rust better than any commercial product. I've never tried it though.

Pull the manifold anyway. They shrink, you should check if it's shrunk to the point where it's bending the first and/or last bolts before it breaks something (possibly the ear on the head). As a minimum drill out the bolt holes in the manifold a bit larger to gain some clearance, better yet replace it with an aftermarket one.

Kroil is the stuff. Developed right here in Music City at Kano Labs. A tech I used to work with called it cocaine. He said it smelled like it. I wouldn't know.

Update!
Got the turbo out thanks for the advice.
Now I'm trying to rebuild it and cannot get the turbine (hot) side housing off. I have soaked that in penetrating oil for a week, heated it up and smacked it harder than I think I should have and still no luck. Put it in the vice and tried to pry it apart, again smacking the @$!# out of it. Any special tips to getting this SOB off?

Sounds like you're doing everything I did and would do. Keep working at it is all I can say. What are you heating it with? Might take a fair bit of heat but try not to roast the center section too much.

Not familiar with the smell of coke. :laf
I do know a $1.99 automatic centerpunch from horrible freight and Kroil works wonders. :D

I would not use the vise and a hammer-too risky you will break something. You can use the nuts that hold the retaining plates with spacers to use as jacking bolts. It has worked everytime for me on hundreds of turbos.

Update! Got it out, I know I shouldnt have done this and many will cringe but I smacked it out of anger with a single jack. Popped right out, didn't crack housing or anything. Rebuilding in the morning, if anybodys got any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the help guys.
