how much play is ok on the turbo shaft??

depends, my hx40 had a slight amount of shaft play, and was told that even brand new it did. Now my sps62 didn't have any noticeable shaft play.

Some side-to-side is normal. It allows clearance for the oil. Main thing is, the wheels should NOT be able to contact the housings.

Should be ZERO noticeable clearance end-to-end.

According to Holset's website, side to side play spec is . 013-. 020 and shaft end play spec is . 001-. 005.
