per my sig. my 01 truck should run! boost gauge shows 0 when driving, unless i really hammer on it. my 95 has boost all the time, 10lbs on highway. the 01 has 0 on the highway!! my EGTs r really high. my only guess is that the turbo is bad. #@$%! some end shaft play as well. if that is the case what upgrade turbo should i go with. thought bout the garrett!! Oo. thanks

This sounds more like a leak of boost caused by either a cut or tear in your intercooler boots or a leak in the intercooler itself.

The lower intercooler boot on the drivers side has been a known culprit of this. If you inspect it you may notice a piece of metal that can rub the boot to the point where it will leak. This is VERY common on 01's. I have had it as well as ToolmanTimTaylor.

Start testing the intercooler system for leaks with a boost tester (do a search) before considering an absolute turbo failure.

Just my 2 cents... .

What will it make full boost? If the turbo is on the way out, usually the WOT boost will be down.

As Mactruck said, test the IC system if WOT boost seems good.

I'd expect 30-35psi (maybe more) with your mods.

Pull the intake tube and boost boot off and look for oil. When they die the tend to take the oil seals (similar to a piston ring) out and fill the intercooler with oil. Mine was acting the same as yours and I didn't pay too much attention until it started smoking. I cleaned a qt of oil out of the intercooler.

turbo shot?

It the turbo is good then check for lack of fueling. Mine has been fueling at about 70% since new. Hence less boost and power and hard to make smoke.

thx yall. its about 35psi or so at wot. just dead in the water of the line, but itll get it on the highway. searching for the parts list to make the boost tester. look at the lower boot on driver's side(thx mactruck) and noticed a lil wear spot. hopefully all of this is just a leak issue.

When you say it's dead off the bottom... what RPM does it come on? If you hit the throttle at like 1600rpm in 4th, it should be spooled up by like 1800 or so, right?

Maybe you're just lugging the truck? Around town, try not to let it get below 1700rpm.

wow thx yall my truck is back!!!!!!!!! tdr is the best 35 bucks ever spent. wow now its got power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
