HELLO...

Another NEW GUY question here.

Just WHAT SIZE turbo do I have?? 98, 12-valve?

What is the outlet size? I read where you guys speack of 14, 16 and 18?

Are they interchangeable??

The resone that I'm asking is I am welding up my OWN exhaust system an would like to FIND another down pipe (or just the flange) so I can WELD up to it and NOT RUIN the one that is already there. The pipe I have is 4" plus inside diamiter. (S. S. )

SO DOES ANY ONE HAVE A SPARE ,,DAMAGED OR BROKEN ONE??? Or any other option on the flange type or size??

What is or would be the next TURBO size to go up to for mild increase??

THANKS FOR ANY HELP

Your turbine size is 12 but I think what you really want to know is that your down pipe size is 3 inch.

You have an HX35W turbo, with the 12Cm exhaust housing. There are 14,16,18. 5 and 21cm housings available for the turbo all non wastegated. There is also a 14cm wastegated housing for them. The next size up turbo would be an HX40W. It is a good upgrade for most trucks under 500hp. The Piers version is probably the fastest spooling Hx40 ,and its the one ID buy if were gettting the hx40.

Mike: You might be able to convince a vendor to give you a 4" downpipe that they removed from someone's truck that upgraded..... If they want more than $50 for it... . tell them to go climb a tree, they're only $150 brand new for a 4" aluminized downpipe (with 3" inlet).

If you want a good solid flange to weld up to... . you might want to look into getting a turbine discharge adapter from any vendor that sells larger non-wastegated turbine housings. This flange is very handy in that it makes up the difference between the wastegated and non-wastegated housings - otherwise you'd have about a 2" gap between the exhaust elbow and the larger non-wastegated turbine housing. After you swear at your turbo for an hour or so - trying to get it off the manifold and separating the center section from the turbine housing..... you'll think this spacer was worth its weight in gold. :-laf

Or if you're handy - you could make the flange... . to save even more bread.

YES I'm handy with what is needed , as far as the building of the exhaust,,, THis was why I was asking the SIZE OF THE turbo discharge hole.

Just what is this ADAPETER that you speak off?? Would all the shops KNOW WHAT I was asking about?? Or would I get that DUMM **** LOOK??

If some one would be every so kind as to draw ,, or tap out a gasket of that FLANGE I can cut one out and have it ALL WELDED up to my NEW DOWN PIPE.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP GUYS... .

Mike: I bought my adapter from Diesel Injection Service of Pittsburgh, (Cheswick) PA.

They knew exactly what I needed. Word on the street is that Scott down at MassDiesel has these in stock. You can call him at 508-528-6127... . tell him that I sent ya. :D

Getting this adapter and then welding up your downpipe to it would be really easy and would make for a really slick setup.
