HI,

Just got in from tearing down the turbo on one of our 6. 7s that was getting the 2262 code, this is the fourth one we have done,we actually removed the variable ring on this one(really easyto do) and found the centre expansion ring seized up. If someone lets me know how to post photos i will post the photos, best wishes from Australia to you all

Regards

Conn

Last week at the May Madness TDR Rally I was talking with a knowledgeable Dodge dealership technician who works on diesel Rams.

He mentioned that one of the problems they'd seen with new 6. 7L engines is soot causing binding in the sliding nozzle of the turbo.

He said a new TSB will provide instructions to install a fitting in the turbo housing to allow dealer techs to flush the turbo nozzle with a cleaning solution without removing or disassembling the turbo.

I personally know nothing about this procedure but assume the tech I was talking with did.

It's ironic that Cummins/Holset went out their way to brag about how their variable nozzle arrangement was going to eliminate the coking and binding issues plaguing the other guys, that being the Navijunk VGT. I guess they were a little too sure of themselves.
