I hope someone can help me out here. I want to get a turbo timer (TT) for my 96 CTD. When I go to ebay, you can get them from about $30+ but if you put diesel in with the search they go to $150+ do I need one made for the diesel? The way I understand it works is that when you turn the key off the TT maintains 12Volts to the fuel shut-off. Now I know that there are two relays in the system the one that opens the shut-off takes alot of amps to work but the one that holds it open does not and I think thats the one that the TT would work with. So I'm thinking you don't have spend the $150 for the TT on the diesel. If I am wrong aout this will someone set me straight.

I am not familiar with the fuel shut off on your 96, but with my timer i had originally wired it up to just the ignition and brake (for security). So after i turned the key off, the timer started counting down and fooled the truck into thinking the ignition was still on... worked great, untill it drained the fuel from the filter canister. Solution was to wire in the lift pump (discussed in my other threads). Anyways, i do not think you need a special TT for a diesel, just need to make sure you have the output of the TT wired up to whatever you need to keep the truck running. My timer is a standard from Greddy, which they seem to use on everything.

Thanks for the reply, I guess there is'nt much intrest in this subject. On my 96 12v, the way I understand it is w/the mach. lift pump the only thing that keeps the engine running is if the fuel shut-off selinoid(sp) is open, closed it quits. I tried to find your other thread you spoke of but had no luck.

I'm not sure if this would help or work for you, but I put a shutdown timer from a kenworth truck in mine. Only cost $80. You can set it so the truck goes off from 1 to 15 minutes after you turn the key off. I just wired it in between the ignition and the power. Pretty much just a bypass for the ignition. If you go to www.nmtrd.com, there is some pictures of it in the garage. I don't think you have to be a member to look at the garage.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the application chart. This is made by the same company that makes the "Brite Box" (Baker Electronic's ???).

I put one on my truck about six months ago. I bought mine from Geno's Garage. Type "turbo timer" in the search box. Looks like they stock one for a 94-02 Dodge. It might be worth a call, Geno's is very customer friendly.

In my dash I put in an LED that I bought from Radio Shack, as well as the push button switch that comes with the kit . Mine works very well and I am happy with it. My kit also came with a very small anti-theft switch which is to be mounted hidden some where.

Isspro make a turbo temp timer. Check out isspro.com page 30 of their catalogue. It goes by the temp of your pryo and is safe for when someone else uses your truck. Shadrach
