Hello all,

I have an Edge Juice/w Attitude, and it has the built in turbo timer, which allows me to shut the truck off when the egt's get down to a certain temp. My question is, what is a good temp for the shut down to happen? I currently have it set for 350 degrees. Is this good, or should it be lower?

Thx!!

After some soul-searching and experimentation I settled on the timed shut down option rather than the temperature shut down option for turbo cooling.

I set it for two minutes, that seems to work for me.

Mike. :)

I have mine set at a temps. not time. I have it set for 350* and have at times set it at 400*. From what I have read from other posts and sites that should be pretty close to good settings.

I've always read that you should let exhaust temps drop below 300 before shut down and that above that the oil will "coke" in the turbo.

I have my Edge set at 260 degrees. I like the idea of cooling the oil down around the turbo to prevent any problems and adding longevity to the turbo is paramount to me. I had been a tech working on the older European diesels and knew then that a hot turbo sitting in hot oil was bad for both. I've seen firsthand what a toasted turbo looks like if not allowed to cool down after runnning. I'm cheap, so the few cents I spend on fuel running the engine an extra 2 or 3 minutes to cool down is cheap insurance. Besides, you should see the stares when the truck shuts down with no body sitting in it.

Just got my Edge installed, I set my temp for 300.

I'm glad I found this to confirm. Maybe once I start towing I might drop it a few clicks to be safe.
