Put in a new 16 housing a couple of months ago and am having a problem getting a tight seal. Keep having problems with exhaust leaks at the clamp at the discharge side of the exhaust housing. Have tapped around the clamp when tightening and still have a leak. Has anyone else had this problem and do I need to get a new clamp?

Hi paccol

I would spring for a new clamp if I were you. When Wentland installed my exhaust brake we had leak on the down pipe side

of the brake that just did't want to seal. The solution was to get a new clamp from Cummins - end of problem. Hope this helps.

Happy Trails

If your talking about that V band clamp, I just priced one at the dealer - $46. 00 - bought one at the Freightliner place for $10. 50.

Thanks guys

That was what I expected to hear. Bob, did you buy one from Cummins or did Wentland have one?

Tom, thanks for the price info. Sure a big difference!

I have a noise that is driving me crazy. It is kind of a fluttering air sound from the passengers side when the boost comes up to about 10 to 15 pounds, it goes away if I get on the throttle harder and the boost goes up. Could I have a leak in this area.

Turn on the pacbrake and give it a little fuel. If there is a leak it will be real obvious. Mine sounded like an air nozzle when I turned on the exhaust brake one morning to warm up the truck.
