So i am thinking its time to upgrade my turbo from stock. i was thinking the phat shaft from Industrial injection. what i am looking from is more performance and daily driver then for towing of heavy work. id like to keep the stock "set up" as in exhaust downpipe etc. any thoughts guys? i have a nice 5 inch downpipe from diamond eye, and a cool hose for my stock box, and id like to keep them. and whats all this i hear about 2nd gen manifolds workin on 3rd gens and all that? is that a route to go?

Having gone down the road your looking at, I would choose either a 62/71/14 from II, or a 62/71/13ss from HTT, the latter being my 1st choice if $'s are not a factor. The Phat Shaft(II's 62/65/14)would be an upgrade from stock, just not enough for the time and effort involved imo, it will leave you wanting more on top for cooler egt's.

The upgrade to a 71mm turbine will spool darn near as quick as the 65mm, but will flow much better, a fantastic street performer and a great towing charger. Either one will fit right in place of the stocker.

As far as a second gen manifold, the outlet is a center dump, rather than dumping at #4/#5 cyl like the stocker, you will have fitment issues. The folks that are using them(for compounds), like me, are mounting them upside down, so the center dump positions the top charger in an installation advantage, and better flow.

If your thinking of running a 2 Gen exhaust manifold. you may want to go head and buy a 2/3 twin kit. Source Auto, MPI and Wicked Diesel all have twin kits that used the stock as the secondary turbo.
