First time posting so please enlighten me if I’m in the wrong place or if my etiquette needs correcting.
I believe I am having trouble with my turbo. I’m having trouble keeping egt down lately with even a small trailer on. I installed the injectors about 25k ago chasing the increased mileage they advertised. Mileage did increase but the “stock like smoke” they claimed was too much for my taste, but the performance was there and I grew to live with it. I’ve driven it a while this way and the smoke keeps getting worse and now performance is suffering. I have replaced all intercooler boots and pressure checked my boost system. I’m confident I no longer have a boost leak. I have also changed my air filter recently so any restriction there is cleared up. The reason I suspect the turbo is that it is the smaller hy35 found in the 01 02 auto pickups and I’m having a hard time exceeding 20 lbs of boost standing on the accelerator with both feet. I used to see 27 ish psi when trying.
I mainly just daily drive but we also depend on it as a backup in case my dads pickup is inoperable so it needs to perform as it should. dad and I have driven this pickup since 2004 and put almost 200k on it so I am familiar with how it should be. It is not how it should be now.
all this being said (and I know it is a bit scattered, just trying to hit all the points). I have researched and settled on and finally ordered an ATS Aurora 3000 kit from thoroughbred. The kit is back ordered and will not ship until mid august so I have time to re evaluate my decision and research further. I reach out to you all for thoughts, questions, opinions, and past experiences.
